Molecular Biology and Genetics Seminars: Asst. Prof. Ertuğrul Dalgıç

Zoom

Asst. Prof. Ertuğrul Dalgıç from Zonguldak Bülent Ecevit University will be the next guest of the seminar series organized by KHAS Molecular Biology and Genetics Department with his speech Molecular Networks of Human Diseases” on Monday, February 28 at 13.00.

The event will take place on Zoom and is open to anyone interested.

Abstract: Molecular and cellular understanding of human diseases is dependent on network analysis since there are intricate relationships at various levels. Analysis of gene expression correlation networks showed that tumor sample based networks are significantly less connected than paired normal networks. No common list of differentially connected genes was found among different tumor networks. Putative antagonist protein pairs with mutual inhibition were also analyzed across several cancer samples or cancer types. Analysis of two different datasets suggested that a few proteins are enriched in most of the antagonistic relationships. Some specific types of cancer are more frequently associated with these proteins. Systems level analysis of network properties makes important contributions to our understanding of human diseases.
