celt Safe Exam Browser – Secure Exam Browser Service
Safe Exam Browser (SEB)
Safe Exam Browser (SEB) is a secure browser environment designed to ensure the integrity of online and computer lab examinations. During an exam, it locks the computer into a restricted kiosk mode, preventing switching to other tabs, copying content, or running unauthorized applications.
- Access Restriction: Access to the desktop, external browser tabs, and unauthorized applications is disabled during the exam.
- Copy Prevention: Copying exam questions or pasting external text into the exam is blocked.
- Shortcut Protection: Keyboard shortcuts such as Alt+Tab, PrintScreen, and Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V are disabled in locked mode.
- KHAS Learn Integration: Examinations are launched securely and directly through the KHAS Learn platform.
SEB software and institutional configuration profiles are pre-installed and managed across all university computer laboratories.
- Log In: Sign in to KHAS Learn on the lab computer or your personal device.
- Open Course: Navigate to your course page and locate the exam activity.
- Launch SEB: Click "Launch Safe Exam Browser" to enter the secure exam mode.
- Complete Exam: Finish all questions, submit your attempt, and exit the application.
- Create Quiz: Add a Quiz activity to your course on KHAS Learn.
- Enable SEB: Activate security restrictions under the "Safe Exam Browser" settings tab.
- Select Template: Choose the institutional SEB template or automated configuration.
- Quit Password: Set a proctor quit password for invigilator overrides during testing.
- Close Background Apps: Close all messaging, screen recording, and communication applications before starting.
- Do Not Use Dual Monitors: SEB will block exam launch if a secondary display is connected to your computer.
- Use Your Own Account: Ensure KHAS Learn is authenticated exclusively under your own institutional profile.
- Proctor Instructions: In lab exams, do not troubleshoot hardware/software without proctor guidance.
