Microsoft Teams is the institutional communication platform utilized across our university for live lectures, seminars, project meetings, and one-on-one advising. Sessions require authentication via KHAS email accounts and lecture recordings can be archived securely when needed.

Login & Access

Web / Desktop: Sign in via your web browser at teams.microsoft.com or download the desktop application to your computer.

Mobile Access: Download the Microsoft Teams app from the App Store or Google Play and log in with your institutional email and password.

Step-by-Step Guide
Select Your Role
  1. Log In: Access the platform using your institutional KHAS email and password.
  2. Join Class: Click the meeting link in your Calendar or on your KHAS Learn course page.
  3. Audio/Video: Keep your microphone muted upon entry; adjust your camera according to class policy.
  4. Participate: Use the "Raise Hand" feature or the chat panel to ask questions.
  1. Schedule Lecture: Create sessions in Calendar and share links on KHAS Learn.
  2. Manage Permissions: Configure lobby settings and presenter privileges in Meeting Options.
  3. Group Work: Utilize Breakout Rooms to split students into smaller collaborative groups.
  4. Record Session: Start recording at lecture start; files archive automatically upon session conclusion.

Select Your Role
  • Test your headset and microphone settings before joining live sessions.
  • If experiencing disconnection issues, try an alternate browser and disable active VPNs.
  • Notify your instructor if lecture recordings cannot be accessed.
  • Restrict student presenter privileges prior to starting the meeting.
  • Remind students of microphone and chat guidelines at the start of class.
  • Verify recording access permissions via OneDrive/SharePoint.

  • Ensure non-essential personal tabs and windows are closed prior to sharing screens.

You can verify your audio and video before joining classes by selecting "Make a test call" under Teams device settings.

Common Issues & Solutions
Audio or Microphone Not Working:
Navigate to Teams Settings > "Devices" tab and confirm the correct speaker and microphone hardware are selected.
Video Stutters or Freezes:
Disable background blur or effects. Connect via a wired ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi where possible.
Disconnection / Connection Errors:
Disconnect any active VPN software on your machine and restart your browser or the Teams client.
Screen Share Not Visible:
Select "Entire Screen" instead of sharing individual application windows, and verify browser screen recording permissions.
