FOLKHAS – Folk Dance Club

Our club is a big family of 55 members who are passionate about traditional folk dances. With teamwork and dedication, we grow stronger every day. Founded on June 1, 2017, the club holds its practices every Tuesday and Thursday at the Cibali Campus.

FOLKHAS has represented our university for two years in the “Interuniversity Folk Dance Competitions.” Additionally, we continue to organize the “KHAS Dance Festival”—the first event in the country to bring both folk and Latin dance teams to the same stage.

Our dance repertoire includes regional styles from Kırklareli, the Black Sea, Aegean, and Eastern Anatolia. Our first performance was on July 1, 2017, at the graduation ceremony, followed by a major show on January 14, 2018, featuring a medley from the Black Sea and Aegean regions.

Purpose of Turkish Folk Dances: To preserve and pass on cultural values to future generations while promoting friendship, solidarity, national pride, unity, and cooperation.

Turkish folk dances are a cornerstone of Turkish folklore. These regional dances, performed in villages and towns with traditional costumes and music, represent the shared cultural heritage of the people.

Photography Club

We love taking photographs—and even more, we love taking them together. You could say we want to “live inside the photograph” and truly “experience photography.” Our club primarily aims to help you improve the technical quality of your photos. You’ll gain essential theoretical knowledge through workshops and have the opportunity to practice with us. All of this takes place in a friendly and collaborative environment—picture a group where those who know help those who are learning, and everyone has fun along the way.

Photography is a journey from the past to today. And nowadays, even a phone camera can get you started. That’s why you don’t need professional gear to join us—just an eagerness to take photos is enough.

Throughout the year, we organize many events. After a month-long “Basic Photography” course, we go on various photo walks. We also host talks with professional photographers and arrange visits to major exhibitions in Istanbul, aiming to foster both artistic and technical growth.

Founded on December 8, 2022, HasGeeknMore is a club dedicated to promoting science fiction and fantasy culture. The club’s core goals include introducing tabletop RPG games such as FRP and RPG, organizing workshops on systems like FATE and Dungeons and Dragons (D&D), reading manga and comic books, and hosting movie nights to enjoy classic sci-fi and fantasy films. We aim to contribute to the spread of this culture in Turkey.

Our club is open to anyone interested in the genres of science fiction and fantasy, with no participation requirements. In future terms, we plan to keep the club vibrant through various workshops and off-campus events.

HASDANS – Latin Dance Club

Founded in 2007, HasDans is one of the most active student clubs at Kadir Has University. The club not only teaches Latin dances but also encourages members to socialize, have fun, and learn new things. Beginners grow their self-confidence and eventually get the chance to express themselves on stage.

Under the guidance of instructor Yiğit Dündar, the club holds practice sessions twice a week, covering Latin dances such as salsa, bachata, cha cha, jive, rumba, samba, and rueda. The performance team, selected through annual auditions, participates in dance festivals and competitions across and outside the city.

Since 2018, HasDans has co-hosted the traditional “Khas Dance Fest” with Folkhas, welcoming university dance teams and professional dancers to create a vibrant dance atmosphere on campus. The festival also features various workshops, offering participants the chance to learn different dance styles.

English Drama Club

As the English Drama Club, we embark on an exciting journey through the magical world of theater. Our goal is to create unforgettable experiences by combining fun with learning.

Human Rights and Philosophy Club

The Human Rights and Philosophy Club of Kadir Has University aims to explore, explain, and discuss human rights and how to ensure access to these rights. The club fosters dialogue around global and local issues through a human rights perspective, and works on mapping out possible individual or collective actions.

Raising awareness and ensuring sustainability on all rights-related issues is a core goal of the club. It promotes the visibility of related initiatives and campaigns within the university, and supports the establishment of a network and advisory group to implement awareness projects originating from the university.

This club is not a complaint center but serves as a guide for referral and follow-up of violations. Its primary aim is to engage in dialogue with students about all forms of discrimination, rights violations, and violence, and to discuss possible solutions together.

The KHAS IEEE Student Branch brings together students interested in engineering and technology, aiming to create an environment that closely follows scientific and technical advancements. Model United Nations Club (HASMUN)

Founded in 2009, the Kadir Has University Model United Nations (HASMUN) Club has over 200 active members. In MUN conferences, each participant represents a country or a figure to discuss global crises—past, present, or impactful societal events. At the end of these conferences, solutions are proposed based on the debates, helping participants develop international awareness. These conferences are organized through detailed academic research and require strong organizational skills. The official language of the conference is English. Since 2014, HASMUN has continuously hosted successful MUN conferences, standing out among peer institutions for its consistency and quality. The club annually hosts renowned conferences such as HASTRAIN, HASADVENCED, and HASMUN, attracting international participants and gaining popularity among both high school and university students. In line with the university theater tradition, the club embraces a completely student-led, free, and democratic structure—without any external directors or coordinators. All management roles and responsibilities are open to every member.

The club conducts a wide range of activities throughout the year, such as theater training, staged readings, short plays, backstage work, and magazine/poster design, through collaboration between units like Dramaturgy, Technical, Directing, Organization, and Training.

There is no audition requirement for membership; students can join after the introductory meeting and guidance session.

The Theater Club has staged many important plays in the past. A few examples:
