Our Master’s Graduate Bircan Polat Receives Award from İlhan Tekeli Urbanism Culture Foundation

Bircan Polat, a graduate of Kadir Has University’s Master’s Program in Political Science and Public Administration, has been awarded the “Master’s Thesis Incentive Award” by the İlhan Tekeli Urban Culture Foundation for her master’s thesis completed under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Murat Güvenç.

The thesis examines the role of hometown networks in Istanbul’s urbanization history, with a focus on Alevi identity and localities. It explores the emergence, reconstruction, and current status of hometown identity.
