Third Place Award for Architecture Department Students

The Architecture for People – Architecture for the Public International Architectural Design Competition was held this year with a theme focused on the integration of Syrian refugees into Turkish society. Çağan Köksal, Barış Açık, Burak Arifoğlu, Begüm Yoldaş, and Akın Ertürk, students from the Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Architecture, won third prize with their project titled “Boundless.”

The competition, which seeks design ideas to contribute to the social integration of Syrian refugees living in the Reyhanlı district on the Turkish border, consists of two categories: professional and student. The jury members include Prof. Juhani Pallasmaa, Prof. Dr. Suha Özkan, Prof. Dr. Meltem Gürel, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at Yaşar University, Lecturer Dr. Chen-Yu Chiu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chun-Hsiung Wang, Ying-Chun Hsieh, Sheng-Yuan Huang, Shuenn-Ren Liou, and Nuno Martins.
