A LIFETIME BETWEEN ACADEMIA AND THE STAGE

After graduating from Arnavutköy American College for Girls, Prof. Dr. Dikmen Gürün completed her undergraduate and graduate studies in theater in the United States and earned her PhD from the Ankara University Faculty of Languages, History, and Geography (DTCF). A faculty member at the Kadir Has University Faculty of Art and Design since 2013, Gürün continues to make immortal contributions to the collective memory of theater through her works, including Ateş Kuşu Semiha Berksoy (The Firebird) and Tiyatro Benim Hayatım: Yıldız Kenter’in Hayat Hikayesi (Theater is My Life: The Life Story of Yıldız Kenter).

“BEARING THE MARKS OF DEPTH AND ELEGANCE”

Prof. Dr. Zeynep Günsür Yüceil highlighted Gürün’s unifying and humble personality, stating: “You have done your best to leave no room for despair. Carrying your teachings forward is one of our greatest responsibilities. The title of Emeritus suits you best.” Prof. Dr. Banu Manav, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Design, noted that Gürün taught that theater is not just something to be watched but an art form to be studied in depth: “We offer our gratitude for all the values you have added to theater. You have led such precious processes and left such beautiful marks, carrying the traces of labor and elegance.”
