FIELD NOTES

Spatial Explorations of Invisible Surfaces

This exhibition brings together site-specific projects developed by students within the Kadir Has University course Spatial Practices in Art, based on their field observations in Istanbul.

Field Notes aims to make visible the overlooked traces, suppressed memories, and everyday forms of intervention on the city’s surfaces, drawing from the individual and collective relationships students establish with the urban environment.

Ranging from electric poles to construction sites, from abandoned arches to sticker-covered surfaces, these investigations open up discussions on regimes of visibility in the city, spatial injustices, and aesthetic–political intersections.

The installations approach the city as both an archive and a space of action, constructing a research language through their diversity of materials and forms: modular structures, sound boxes, mirrored voids, and text textures all serve as components of this language.

Field Notes reminds us that art can be a mode of production that touches space, questions it, and reconstructs it. These works transform the micro-traces of everyday life into forms of public expression.
