The 29th ÇGD Uğur Mumcu Commemoration Awards, organized by the Eskişehir Branch of the Contemporary Journalists Association and supported by Tepebaşı Municipality, found their owners. At the award ceremony, which was postponed due to the pandemic and held on Sunday, May 15, 2022, 41 names in 16 categories were presented with their awards.
At the 29th ÇGD Uğur Mumcu Memorial Awards, the award in the field of “Science and Technology” was given to Prof. Dr. Alp Erinç Yeldan, Professor of Economics at Kadir Has University. “This is the most honorable award I have received in my nearly forty years as an academic,” Prof. Yeldan said about the award:
“It is a great honor for me to receive this year’s Science and Technology Award in this very meaningful commemoration ceremony organized in the name of Uğur Mumcu, one of the greatest revolutionaries and democracy fighters Turkey has raised. It is too big for words. I can say that it is the proudest award I have received during my nearly forty years as an academic.
“I cannot describe how the principles you have defended all your life, what you have written, what you have said, can be honored in the person of such a great revolutionary. In the face of the ongoing crisis of law and democracy not only in our country but also in almost the entire global economy, it is very meaningful, proud and hopeful to know that you are all together with your colleagues, students and all your colleagues, and that you are not alone.”
