Our Industrial Design Department is exhibiting its pandemic-era works at Haliç Congress Center on 17-18 December 2021 within the scope of Design Week Turkey, which will be held for the fifth time this year with the coordination of the Ministry of Trade and the organization of the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM).
Built around the concept of “one-to-one”, the exhibition will feature a selection of graduation projects from the 2020-2021 semester and projects carried out with design partners such as Anadolu Cultural Entrepreneurship, Cemer Gaming Equipment and Rezan Has Museum.
The manifesto of the exhibition organized by the lecturers of our Industrial Design Department is as follows:
In the Industrial Design Department of Kadir Has University, we look at human needs, children, details, surfaces, materials, technical equipment, structure, colors, trees, leaves, age rings of trees, anthills, car wheels, as they are closely on a one-to-one scale and design them accordingly.
In this way, we observe life more closely and deeply, and we can transfer all these impressions to the design process. We research, observe, imagine, sketch, draw and model on a one-to-one scale.
“Can a kettle, a scooter, or a refrigerator be designed by imagining 1/1 from the beginning?”
We can draw many of the subjects we work on in 1/1 scale. This gives us the opportunity to relate our design to its environment and user in a short time and in the most realistic way.
In order to overcome the obstacle of dimensional perception, especially in computer screen drawings, and to mature the dimensional decisions of the projects in a short time, we evaluate the drafts in 1/1 scale from the very beginning of the design process.
Like sketches, 3D models can also be worked one-to-one. The method is simple:
– Add a 1-meter reference line to views in your orthographic drawings.
– Move the projector away from the wall, as we did in this exhibition, until the reference line is really 1 meter tall.
– Here you are in the 1/1, scale-free universe. It is also possible to interpret the lines on the computer screen in analog ways by projecting the image onto a large sheet of paper.
Now we invite you to the One-to-one experience – here you are in the 1/1, scale-free universe. It is also possible to interpret the lines on the computer screen in analog ways by projecting the image onto a large sheet of paper.
Keyifli Seyirler Dileriz!
