Our Theatre Department lecturer and acclaimed actress Tilbe Saran has been selected to receive the Honorary Award at the 63rd International Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival, which will take place from 24–31 October.
The award will be presented during the festival’s opening ceremony on Saturday, 24 October, in recognition of Saran’s outstanding contributions to theatre and cinema throughout her distinguished career.
A Journey from the Stage to the Cinema
Having trained under legendary theatre figures such as Yıldız Kenter, Haldun Dormen, and Müjdat Gezen, Tilbe Saran has appeared in more than 30 productions with renowned theatre companies including Kenter Theatre, Istanbul City Theatres, Aksanat Production, of which she is a founding member, and Semaver Kumpanya. Her performances in classics such as Kral Lear, Vanya Dayı and Cesaret Ana have earned her a lasting place in the memories of theatre audiences.
In cinema, Saran has appeared in many acclaimed Turkish films, including Kaç Para Kaç, Korkuyorum Anne, Times and Winds (Beş Vakit), Zenne Dancer (Zenne), Intersection (Yol Ayrımı), and Bergen. She previously received the Best Supporting Actress award at the 48th Antalya Golden Orange Film Festival in 2011 for her performance in Zenne.
Contributing Beyond the Stage
In addition to her acting career, Tilbe Saran has served as Secretary General of the Actors’ Union of Türkiye, advocating for the rights of fellow performers. At our university, she continues to mentor and inspire the next generation of actors by sharing her extensive knowledge and experience. Since 2016, she has also been bringing together people from diverse backgrounds through educational and experiential workshops at her studio in Portakallık Village, Muğla.
