No, enrollment in the university is sufficient for registration in the Preparatory Program.

Yes, the orientation program is very important for getting to know the university and understanding its functioning. Participation of all students is strongly encouraged.

No. Kadir Has University aims for all its students to graduate with a good level of English regardless of their department. Even if your department offers only a few courses in English, you will still need strong English skills, so the same program applies to everyone.

Yes, there is an 80% attendance requirement each semester. Students whose attendance falls below 80% in any semester cannot enroll in the Summer School. Attendance is recorded on the Learn platform and it is the student’s responsibility to keep track.

Your class schedule and classroom will appear on your Sparks page. Additionally, you will also receive an email at the beginning of the Fall semester.

Yes, attendance is recorded in every lesson.

Attendance in the Preparatory Program is not just a formality; it directly affects language development. Language learning is a process based on practice and repetition. Students need to regularly hear, use, and receive immediate feedback on the target language in class. Missing classes disrupts this cycle, causes loss of understanding, and reduces motivation and confidence. Students who attend regularly benefit from direct feedback, active participation in classroom activities, and improved communication skills through group work.

Medical reports issued by state or private hospitals for 10 days or longer are accepted as valid excuses for absences. Reports must be submitted to the SFL Administrative Office within three working days following the end of the report period.

Students who miss a midterm or final exam due to a valid excuse must submit their supporting documents to the SFL Directorate within three working days following the end of the report. Accepted students will take the make-up exam on a date determined by the SFL. Make-ups are not given for assessments weighing less than 25%. If such assessments coincide with a period covered by a 10-day report, they will be excluded from evaluation and the final grade will be recalculated accordingly. In exceptional cases (e.g., medical reports, traffic accidents, natural disasters, court summons, consulate appointments), students may submit a petition to the SFL Directorate, and acceptance will be at the discretion of the SFL.

You must regularly check your attendance records and immediately inform your course instructor if you notice any errors.

Yes, exceeding the absence limit does not prevent you from taking the exams. The absence limit only affects your eligibility for the Summer School.

This rule is not meant to punish students but to protect the quality, order, and fairness of education. Entering the classroom late interrupts the instructor and distracts other students, disrupting the overall learning environment.

The maximum duration of the Preparatory Program is 2 years. If a student spends one year registered and one year unregistered, their maximum duration expires. However, freezing registration does not count toward the maximum duration. For example, if a student studies for one year and freezes for the next, they still have the right to study one more year in the program.

If you froze for one or two semesters in your first year, you must first take the Level Placement Test when re-registering for the second year. If you pass the Level Placement Test threshold, you may take the English Proficiency Exam.
