One graduate student will be supported with a scholarship for 6 months to work in the TUBITAK project titled “Positioning the Audience in Cinematic Virtual Reality” with the number 121K238, which is being carried out by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Melis Behlil, one of our faculty members of the Faculty of Communication, Department of Radio, Television and Cinema.
The project aims to produce both theoretical and practical knowledge on how the viewer shapes the narrative through attention mechanisms in virtual reality (VR) films. Compared to the passive viewing experience of classical cinema, VR provides a more active viewing experience due to its visual structure that is not limited by a tool such as a frame, allowing the viewer to look wherever they want, and its interactive features allowing them to organize the narrative sequence. Following a film that will be realized by instrumentalizing the viewer’s gaze, in other words, attention mechanisms, the second stage of the project will be an audience research that examines how the narrative is shaped by attention mechanisms in SG films using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.
Expectations from the graduate student who will work on the project:
– Establishing the interactive infrastructure of the 360° movie to be realized within the scope of the project using Unity, Unreal or other platforms,
• Bakış yönüne göre anlatının akışını düzenleyecek tekniklerin Unity, Unreal veya başka platformlar kullanarak düzenlenmesi.
Bursiyerin;
– Good command of Unity, Unreal or other game engines,
– To have basic knowledge of cinematography
– Become familiar with eye-tracking applications in HTC Vive Pro Eye virtual reality headsets,
• İstanbul’da ikamet etmesi,
• Herhangi bir işte çalışmıyor olması beklenmektedir.
The graduate student who will take part in the project will be given a total of 9.275 TL / monthly scholarship, including TUBITAK scholarship fee of 7.275 TL and Kadir Has contribution fee of 2.000 TL in case he/she is a KHAS student.
