Prof. Dr. Jun Wen Appointed as Adjunct Professor at Kadir Has University

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Jun Wen, an esteemed academic at Macau University of Science and Technology, has been appointed as Adjunct Professor at Kadir Has University (KHAS) Faculty of Communication.

We believe that Dr. Wen’s academic activities at our university over the next three years will significantly strengthen KHAS’ interdisciplinary research vision and international collaborations. Dr. Wen, who will contribute to the sustainability goals of our university with his extensive academic knowledge and devoted work, will also lead projects that bring different fields together and set an example in both research and education with his lectures.

Who is Dr. Jun Wen?

The academic collaboration between Dr. Jun Wen from Macau University of Science and Technology and Prof. Metin Kozak from Kadir Has University Faculty of Communication since 2019 continues to result in important scientific outputs. This comprehensive partnership has made valuable contributions to the international academic literature with nearly 20 joint articles and book chapters focusing on tourism and public health.

One of the most remarkable outputs of their collaboration was the study titled “Tourism as a dementia treatment based on positive psychology”. The article was featured in more than 1,000 media outlets, reaching millions of people and having a global impact. Three books focusing on interdisciplinary research at the intersection of tourism and health have been published and three new books are in preparation.

Dr. Wen’s academic contributions are not limited to this. Dr. Wen is the editor of public health-focused special issues in leading journals in the field such as Tourism Management, and also serves as an Associate Editor for many international journals. Such publishing activities once again demonstrate the importance of academic collaborations in terms of research productivity and scientific visibility.

Dr. Wen, who also stands out with his individual achievements, is an Associate Professor at Macau University of Science and Technology. Previously known for his work at Edith Cowan University, Dr. Wen’s research has been cited over 7,000 times since 2018. He leads a research team that brings together multiple disciplines such as tourism, marketing, psychology, communication, health sciences and smart technologies. Dr. Wen, whose work on travel therapy and dementia in particular has received international acclaim, published a paper in the Journal of Travel Research in 2024 titled “The principle of entropy increase: A new perspective on how tourism affects human health” published in the Journal of Travel Research in 2024, attracted the attention of CNN, The Washington Post and many other media outlets; this study was featured in 848 different media outlets in total, reaching approximately 2.7 billion people.

Dr. Wen’s “Emerging Scientist” and “Excellence in Research” awards in Australia, as well as his ranking among the top 2% most influential scientists globally, clearly demonstrate his leadership in scientific knowledge production and his vision of contribution to society.
