New Awards for RTS Student Fırat Özeler’s “Kavur” Documentary

The documentary film “Kavur” by Fırat Özeler, our 4th year student from the Department of Radio, Television and Cinema, which had its world premiere as part of the “Cinema Regained” program of the 52nd Rotterdam International Film Festival, continues to return from national and international festivals with awards.

Finalist of the 42nd Istanbul Film Festival National Documentary Film Competition, the documentary won the Best Film Award at the 24th International Golden Saffron Documentary Film Festival. The production received the Best Sound Design Award at the 16th Documentarist Istanbul Documentary Days and was recently awarded Honorable Mention by the jury of the “Location Denied” competition of the 21st Ischia Film Festival.

The documentary “Kavur” focuses on director and screenwriter Ömer Kavur, one of the most important names in Turkish cinema with his many films such as “Anayurt Oteli”, “Gece Yolculuğu”, “Gizli Yüz” and “Akrebin Yolculuğu”.
