Turnitin – Plagiarism and AI Writing Check

Turnitin is a system that checks the originality of assignments, theses, and academic works prepared by students and academic staff. It supports academic ethical rules with similarity reports and also evaluates the probability of texts being prepared by artificial intelligence by generating an AI Writing Report.

What It Provides?
  • Similarity Report: Shows source matches and percentages.
  • AI Writing Report: Provides additional analysis regarding the probability of the text being written by artificial intelligence.
  • LMS Integration: Works directly with KHAS Learn assignments.
Who Uses It?
  • Students: Upload their work, review similarity reports.
  • Academic Staff: Manage assignment settings, interpret reports, and provide feedback.
KHAS Learn Integrations (Plagiarism Plugin)
Assignment (Turnitin Assignment 2)
Standard assignment uploads are matched with Turnitin, and the report is viewed via the LMS.
Quiz (Essay Responses)
Texts can be checked when the plugin is enabled for long answer/essay type exam questions.
Forum Posts
When the plugin is enabled in course forums, responses can be sent to Turnitin for similarity analysis.

These integrations are enabled on a course basis by the instructor; results are visible within KHAS Learn.

Interpreting Reports
  • Similarity score alone does not mean plagiarism; the type and context of matches must be considered.
  • Bibliography and correctly marked citations may increase the score; this is normal.
  • AI Writing Report provides an additional view to assist the instructor's assessment.
Usage Tips
  • Upload text-based files (DOCX / text-based PDF-OCR).
  • Enclose direct quotes in quotation marks, cite the source.
  • Upload your own work; using someone else's file is an academic violation.
