Assistant Professor Zeynep Bektaş TÜBİTAK 3501 Project Support

Due to factors such as the increasing use of renewable energy sources and the widespread adoption of electric vehicles, managing modern energy grids is becoming more challenging by the day on both the generation and consumption sides.

Dr. Zeynep Bektaş, an assistant professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering, has been awarded funding under the TÜBİTAK 3501 Career Development Program for her new project aimed at addressing this complexity.

As the share of variable sources like wind and solar in production increases, uncertainties and imbalances on the consumption side are placing significant pressure on the grids. In her project focused on the “Optimal Power Flow” problem, Dr. Bektaş is developing a new optimization method to manage these uncertainties.

Aimed at accelerating decision-making processes, particularly in large-scale systems, this study will contribute to the safer and more economical operation of electrical grids. The uncertainty-under-optimization method to be developed through the project will enable operational decisions to be made effectively and reliably within the grids.
