New Project Support from TÜBİTAK ARDEB 1005 Program
Date 31 May 2022
We’re pleased to announce that the project, coordinated by Prof. Dr.Ş. Volkan Ediger from the Energy Systems Engineering and entitled “Developing Circular Economy and Industrial Symbiosis with the Purpose of Transforming Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone into an Eco-Industrial Park within the Framework of the European Green Deal” has been funded by TÜBİTAK 1005 Program.
The primary purpose of this interdisciplinary project, which was prepared with university-industry-public cooperation by four universities, one industrial zone, and four public institutions, is to determine the steps that need to be taken by the Turkish Organized Industrial Zones (TOIZ) to become eco-industrial parks in the process of harmonization with the European Green Deal (EGD). To this end, Adana Hacı Sabancı Organized Industrial Zone (AOIZ) has been selected as the pilot region, and 22 AOIZ companies operating with 33 production facilities in 11 different sub-manufacturing sectors have provided consent documents on volunteer cooperation. Within the scope of this innovative interdisciplinary project, an eco-industrial park roadmap along with processes, valuable models, and methods will be developed so that these outputs can be applied to other companies in the AOIZ and other TOIZs.
We congratulate our faculty member for his achievement and wish him success.
