The award-winning book also includes a study by our Women&#8217;s Studies PhD student Gonca \u015eahin, titled <strong>&#8220;Ties that Matter: Queer Ways of Surviving a Transit Country&#8221;<\/strong>, in which she examines the solidarity networks of LGBTI+ refugees residing in Turkey.<\/p>\n\n<p>The 2023 ASR Award for Best Africa-focused Anthology or Edited Collection, sponsored by Cambridge University Press, recognizes the editors and contributors of an anthology of original scholarship that advances African studies in new theoretical and\/or methodological directions, is coherent in structure, and interdisciplinary in nature.<\/p>\n\n<p>The award evaluates the contributors as a whole, as well as the editor(s).
