As Kadir Has University, we celebrated the 21st anniversary of our traditional Kadir Has Awards, which we have been organizing since 2003, with this year\u2019s ceremony. Within the scope of our awards, which symbolize our founder Kadir Has\u2019s vision of investing in education and people, we honored distinguished scientists who stand out with their work in artificial intelligence and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony, held to commemorate the name of the late Kadir Has\u2014who believed that our country\u2019s development is only possible through science and technology\u2014took place on Wednesday, March 25, with strong participation from the academic community. Hosted by our Rector Prof. Dr. Ay\u015fe Ba\u015far, the event honored individuals who contribute to T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s scientific prestige at both national and international levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Global Achievements Honored<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year\u2019s theme was determined as \u201cScience, Technology and Artificial Intelligence,\u201d focusing on the transformative power of science and future-shaping technologies. Prof. Dr. Asuman \u00d6zda\u011flar, Head of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT, was awarded the \u201cOutstanding Achievement Award\u201d for her mathematical contributions to artificial intelligence and large-scale learning algorithms, as well as her academic leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cPromising Scientist Award\u201d was presented to Asst. Prof. Dr. Fatma G\u00fcney for her original and innovative research in scene geometry and motion analysis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kadir Has Mission: Serving Science and Humanity<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the Kadir Has Awards, we aim to make visible and bring together individuals and institutions that contribute to the development of society. Once again, this year\u2019s ceremony emphasized that our founder\u2019s commitment to education continues to live on both within our university and in the achievements of the awarded scientists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Past to Present: Kadir Has Award Recipients<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We launched the Kadir Has Awards for the first time in 2003 under the theme \u201cTurkey\u2019s Place in a Globalizing World.\u201d In this context, Prof. Dr. Ahmet \u00c7akmak was awarded first place, Prof. Dr. Bozkurt G\u00fcven\u00e7 second place, and Dr. \u00dcner K\u0131rdar third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2005, under the theme \u201cTurkey\u2019s EU Accession Process,\u201d Sava\u015fkan \u0130lmak was awarded first place, Dr. \u0130rfan Kaya \u00dclger second place, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hakk\u0131 \u00c7ift\u00e7i third place.In 2006, under the title \u201cTurkey\u2019s Middle East Policy,\u201d Merve \u0130rem Yap\u0131c\u0131 received first place, Dr. Meral Din\u00e7er second place, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Hakk\u0131 \u00c7ift\u00e7i third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2007, under the theme \u201cInformation Technologies and Development,\u201d Timu\u00e7in Tun\u00e7 was awarded first place, \u0130rfan Kalayc\u0131 second place, and Dr. Meral Din\u00e7er third place.In 2010, in the field of \u201cRenewable Energy Resources,\u201d Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Duran \u015eahin received first place, while Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Vardar and Prof. Dr. Bahattin \u00c7etin were awarded second place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2011, under the theme \u201cEducation and Science,\u201d Prof. Dr. Erdal Ar\u0131kan received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Dr. Ataman \u015eend\u00f6l was recognized as a Promising Scientist.In 2012, in the field of \u201cCulture and Arts,\u201d Emre Arolat received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Lara Melda was recognized as a Promising Artist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2013, in the \u201cGeneral Science\u201d category, Prof. Dr. Daron Acemo\u011flu received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ali Ko\u015far was recognized as a Promising Scientist.In 2014, in the field of \u201cScience, Technology and Innovation,\u201d Prof. Dr. Turgay Dalkara received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Prof. Dr. \u00d6zg\u00fcr Bar\u0131\u015f Akan was recognized as a Promising Scientist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2015, in the field of \u201cSociety, Politics and Economy,\u201d Prof. Dr. \u015eerif Mardin received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. \u015eener Akt\u00fcrk was recognized as a Promising Scientist.In 2016, in the field of \u201cNatural and Life Sciences,\u201d Prof. Dr. Mehmet Toner received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Assist. Prof. Dr. K\u0131van\u00e7 Birsoy was recognized as a Promising Scientist.In 2017, in the field of \u201cUrban Studies,\u201d Prof. Dr. Sema Erder received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Ali Tuna Kuyucu was recognized as a Promising Scientist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2018, under the theme \u201cOttoman Social and Economic History,\u201d Prof. Dr. \u015eevket Pamuk received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emrah Safa G\u00fcrkan was recognized as a Promising Scientist.In 2019, in the field of \u201cComplex Systems,\u201d Prof. Dr. \u0130vet Bahar received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Assist. Prof. Dr. Canan Da\u011fdeviren was recognized as a Promising Scientist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2021, in the field of \u201cNeuroscience,\u201d Prof. Dr. Murat G\u00fcnel received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Dr. Piray Atsak was recognized as a Promising Scientist.In 2022, in the field of \u201cInfectious Diseases and Immunology,\u201d Prof. Dr. Moshe Arditi received the Outstanding Achievement Award, while Dr. Billur Akkaya and Dr. M\u00fcnir Akkaya were recognized as Promising Scientists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2023, under the theme \u201cSustainable Economy in the World,\u201d Prof. Dr. Ziya \u00d6ni\u015f received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bengi Akbulut was recognized as a Promising Scientist.In 2024, under the title \u201cThe 100th Anniversary of Our Republic and Atat\u00fcrk,\u201d Prof. Dr. Re\u015fat Kasaba received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Dr. Banu Turnao\u011flu A\u00e7an was recognized as a Promising Scientist.In 2025, in the field of \u201cGlobal Peace and Justice,\u201d Prof. Dr. Ay\u015fe Bet\u00fcl \u00c7elik received the Outstanding Achievement Award, and Assoc.
