Our Theatre Department faculty member Bar\u0131\u015f Arman<\/strong>\u2019s performance, A\u00e7\u0131k M\u00fclk<\/em><\/strong>, met with audiences at \u0130M\u00c7<\/strong> between November 13\u201315 as part of this year\u2019s 29th Istanbul Theatre Festival.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

A\u00e7\u0131k M\u00fclk<\/em><\/strong> is a<\/strong> site-specific and participatory performance<\/strong> that explores the past, present, and possible future of \u0130M\u00c7<\/strong>, one of Istanbul\u2019s iconic symbols of modern architecture. Audiences are taken on an unconventional \u201copen house\u201d tour through the \u0130M\u00c7 corridors with two \u201creal estate agents\u201d as guides; however, the negotiations here are not only about square meters but also about memory, loss, conflict, and desire.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Through a blend of dance, song, monologue, tea rituals, and everyday encounters, the performance involves the audience both as participants, like investors in a presentation, and as witnesses to new stories at every stop. The agents\u2019 language gradually shifts from irony to vulnerability, blurring the boundaries between fiction and reality. The production is the latest work of award-winning director Bar\u0131\u015f Arman.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

In conclusion, A\u00e7\u0131k M\u00fclk<\/em><\/strong> offers a collective experiential<\/strong> space that questions the visible and invisible burdens of living together, remembering, and urban life.<\/p>\n\n
