The book titled The New Genealogy of Morality – A Psychological and Evolutionary Perspective, compiled by one of our psychology faculty members, Assoc. Prof. Onurcan Y\u0131lmaz, has been published by Ko\u00e7 University Press. Along with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Y\u0131lmaz, the book is co-authored by Prof. Dr. Adil Sar\u0131bay, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mehmet Harma and Dr. Burak Do\u011fruyol.<\/p>\n\n

Although moral psychology has a long history, evolutionary approaches have been introduced relatively recently, and the last two decades have seen many theoretical and methodological innovations in the field. Bringing together essays by fifteen authors from four generations of moral psychology scholars in Turkey, The New Genealogy of Morality places moral psychology in historical perspective and provides an overview of current institutional approaches. In twelve chapters, the biological and cultural determinants of morality are discussed in a variety of ways, demonstrating that a holistic picture of morality requires a focus on both environmental and biological factors. This collection successfully presents current studies and debates on the formation and functioning of human morality in terms of its repercussions in different fields such as politics, human relations, decision-making processes, economic behavior and even the climate crisis.<\/p>\n\n
