In the face of the question \u201cWhat are your alternatives?\u201d, I observe the following dangerous dilemma on the part of the Left: Under the given conditions, realistic and concrete alternative proposals that require urgency are often criticized as \u201cintra-systemic\u201d. They are accused of being incompatible with the goals of \u201coverthrowing the capitalist system and realizing socialism\u201d. However, it is inevitable that many of the policies proposed against the efforts to repel the attacks on labor’s social gains under the pretext of the crisis and to make the working people pay for the crisis also contain \u201cintra-systemic\u201d elements.<\/p>\n\n
Of course, there is also the danger of losing the class compass. It is necessary not to deviate from the goal and lose the horizon that the ultimate solution lies outside the capitalist system, in socialism. However, the approach of \u201cnothing can be changed in this system, socialism will come, the problems will be solved\u201d also has to face the threat of looking at the problems from a very abstract level and failing to instill any hope in working people. Moreover, with this approach it seems very difficult to convince the masses and mobilize them for abstract ideals. On the other hand, the working people have problems that need urgent solutions; the tactic of turning a blind eye to their problems and referring everything to the long term isolates, alienates and increasingly marginalizes the Left in the eyes of the masses.<\/p>\n\n
