Our Radio, Television and Cinema<\/strong> department returned with proud news from the 24th Izmir Short Film Festival<\/strong> held between 14-19 November 2023.<\/p>\n

RTS Department students Dalya Kele\u015f and Didem Nur Yayman won an honorable mention in the Film Lab National category with their short film project titled \u201cGateway\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

One of our graduates, Tilbe Cana \u0130nan,<\/strong> won the Best Screenplay award in the Fiction category with her film \u201cHow to Lose\u201d.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Our graduate Can Merdan Do\u011fan<\/strong> won the 2nd Best Film award with her film \u201cThe Longest Night\u201d.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Izmir Short Film Festival ended with the award ceremony held on Saturday, November 18th. Hosted by the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and held at the Historical Gas Factory, the award ceremony featured important names from the film industry handing out awards to young filmmakers. Organized with the contributions of the Ministry of Culture, General Directorate of Cinema, Izmir Chamber of Commerce, Kar\u015f\u0131yaka Municipality, Bal\u00e7ova Municipality and Narl\u0131dere Municipality, the Izmir Short Film Festival provided Izmir residents with a 6-day week full of cinema. Film screenings were held at the French Cultural Center, Tar\u0131k Akan Youth Center, Karaca Cinema and \u0130stinye Art Renk Cinema, while the Film Lab section of the festival was organized at the Izmir Chamber of Commerce \u0130zQ Entrepreneurship Center.<\/p>\n

In addition to physical screenings in theaters, over 20,000 viewers were reached through online screenings attended by short film viewers from all over Turkey. The Izmir Short Film Festival, which especially attracted young moviegoers, hosted 300 films in screenings. In addition to screening halls, screenings at Izmir University of Technology allowed university students to watch short films in locations far from the city center.<\/p>\n

In \u0130zmir Film Lab events, short film producers had the chance to participate in training on many technical and artistic subjects. In addition, in the project competitions organized, short film producers and directors had the opportunity to present their projects to the jury in \u0130zmir and National categories.<\/p>\n

A total of 20 awards in 8 categories were presented to their owners in the Izmir Short Film Festival and Izmir Film Lab competitions:<\/p>\n
