The study focuses on middle-class transnational communities from both the Global North and Global South, examining their reasons and processes of migration, urban life experiences (housing, work, and socialization), and intersections of gender, nationality, and ethnicity (identity and origin). It argues that highly educated migrants, often perceived as “expats,” also include transnational middle classes who face precarity, economic crises, wars/conflicts, and oppressive regimes. The project aims to reveal the discriminatory practices they encounter in Istanbul and to contribute to the development of new urban and legal policies to improve migrants’ living conditions.

ISG Projects: Kadir Has University carried out renovation works on accessibility ramps to ensure that individuals with disabilities can move safely and comfortably around the campus.

[1] https://www.instagram.com/p/C_fqIY8MZMB/

[2] https://www.instagram.com/p/C6yj5KUKIU4/

[3] https://www.instagram.com/p/CzbXGmkq4_j/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==

[4] https://www.instagram.com/p/C5TJ_WWs4vM/?img_index=2

[5] https://www.instagram.com/p/DCrKdxwM44G/?img_index=1

[6] https://www.instagram.com/p/C_f938EMXue/?igsh=dmpvNXh5b2tqOHFm

Artistic Research Project | ACT – Artistic Freedom and Children’s and Youth’s Perspective in the Arts in Turkey | Project Director: Lecturer Özlem Özhabes | Project Researchers: Assoc.
