The core services and resources of the Kadir Has University Information Center directly contribute to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) \u2014 particularly \u201cQuality Education\u201d (SDG 4), \u201cReduced Inequalities\u201d (SDG 10), \u201cSustainable Cities and Communities\u201d (SDG 11), and \u201cResponsible Consumption and Production\u201d (SDG 12).<\/p>

In addition, the Center actively supports goals such as \u201cIndustry, Innovation and Infrastructure\u201d (SDG 9) and \u201cPartnerships for the Goals\u201d (SDG 17) through open access initiatives, cultural heritage digitization, and national and international cooperation.<\/p>

Public Access and Lifelong Learning<\/strong><\/p>

The Information Center operates with an \u201cOpen Door and Democratization of Access to Information Policy,\u201d ensuring full public accessibility to its facilities and resources. External researchers, students, and members of the public are welcomed throughout the year and can freely access library spaces, digital resources, and study areas.<\/p>

Through the Interlibrary Cooperation and Document Supply Service, KHAS shares its collections with other institutions across T\u00fcrkiye, expanding learning opportunities beyond the university community.<\/p>

In 2024, 127 external visitors used the Information Center\u2019s facilities as part of its open access service for non-KHAS users.<\/p>

Community Engagement and Book Donation Campaigns<\/strong><\/p>

As part of its social responsibility mission, the Information Center organizes annual book donation campaigns to support schools, municipalities, and institutions in need across T\u00fcrkiye. These campaigns are conducted in collaboration with university staff and students, promoting a culture of sharing and educational equity.<\/p>

In 2024, 8,609 books were donated to 10 institutions, including public schools, municipal libraries, and correctional facilities.<\/p>

Equal Access to Knowledge<\/strong><\/p>

In June 2024, the Information Center officially adopted the \u201cOpen Door and Democratization of Access to Information Policy.\u201d This policy recognizes access to knowledge as a fundamental human right and ensures that all members of society \u2014 regardless of institutional affiliation \u2014 can benefit from KHAS\u2019s academic and cultural resources.<\/p>

Throughout 2024, 127 external users accessed the Information Center under this policy.<\/p>

Academic Open Access Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>

To increase global access to academic knowledge, KHAS transitioned to a next-generation Open Access Archive system in 2024, making research output freely available to the world. The platform promotes innovation and visibility of scientific knowledge by removing paywall barriers.<\/p>

In 2024, 5,166 open-access publications were viewed by 204,123 visitors from 181 countries, and 174,031 documents were downloaded. Additionally, 43 KHAS-affiliated articles were published as open access through Read-and-Publish Agreements.<\/p>
