Dear Members of the Kadir Has University Family,

It is our priority at Kadir Has University to protect the health of all the students and employees during this ongoing pandemic period. We would like to remind you of the measures we have taken, and the rules and practices you need to comply with when returning to the campus for the Spring Term of 2021-2022 Academic Year.

  • During Spring Semester, we will continue to be careful about hygiene, face mask and social distance, it is mandatory to wear a face mask in all the indoor locations of the campus

  • All the members of KHAS are required to have their HES Codes verified through MyKHAS to avoid any problem when entering the campus.

  • In the 2021-2022 Spring Semester, we recommend you to complete the 3rd dose of COVID-19 vaccines approved by the World Health Organization for immediate use for campus entrances. Those who have completed two doses and have passed at least 14 days or those who had the disease and got an "Immunity Certificate" can enter the campus. Those who do not meet these requirements should have a rapid PCR test at the campus entrance or show negative PCR test results taken within 48 hours. Those with COVID-19 can enter the campus with a negative PCR test at the end of their quarantine.

  • The KHAS members' guests or other visitors who visit the campus should send their HES code and vaccine information to inform corona@khas.edu.tr 48 hours in advance until February 28, 2022. Those who have not completed their vaccinations, do not have a negative PCR test taken in the last 48 hours, or do not have an "Immunity Certificate" can enter the campus if the rapid PCR test taken at the campus entrance is negative.

  • There are hand sanitizers available at various points of the campus and, there are door mats with special disinfectants for shoes hygiene at the entrance gates. You can get your spare face masks from the automatic vending machines available at certain points of the campus by means of having your university cards read. 

  • Our physician and occupational physician will continue supporting our students and employees on the campus every weekdays during the Spring Semester.

  • All the business enterprises operating on the campus serve under the pandemic conditions and, the measures taken by these business enterprises are cautiously checked.

  • You will make use of the facilities at the Gym, Dance Room and Music Room on a booking system during the Spring Semester. A student, who wishes to participate in face-to-face organizations of the sports teams or student clubs, is required to have got two dose vaccines or take a rapid PCR test at the campus entrance once every two days.

  • The shuttle buses will continue to serve our administrative personnel observing the pandemic conditions in the new semester. Please visit MyKHAS to get current information about the shuttle busses.

Güvenli Kampüs

Kadir Has University is awarded a “Certificate of Healthy and Safe Campus under Global Pandemic Conditions” as a result of the efforts by our university and of the audits by the Turkish Standards Institute under the scope of the “Guidance on Development of Healthy and Clean Environments at Higher Education Institutions under Global Pandemic Conditions” prepared with a cooperation protocol entered into between the Turkish Standards Institute and the Council of Higher Education.

Here are all the details about the rules to be complied with and, the practices to be maintained during the Spring Semester of 2021-2022 Academic Year in the fields of Life at the Campus, Academic and Educational Activities, Information Center (Library), Erasmus+ and Exchange Programs, Psychological Counseling Center, Dormitories and Travels.  

 

 

Life at Campus

Healthcare

Our physician and occupational physician will continue supporting our students and employees on the campus every weekdays during the Spring Semester of 2021-2022 Academic Year. It is planned that those suspected of COVID-19 are taken to the emergency room and, guided to the nearest healthcare institution.

The Turkish Ministry of Health Coronavirus Scientific Committee rearranged the quarantine periods on January 5, 2022:

• The quarantine period of positive cases was determined as 7 days. After the 7th day, the quarantine period ends for people with mild or no symptoms.
• If positive cases take the test on the 5th day and the result turns negative, the quarantine period ends.
• People in contact with a positive coronavirus case are not quarantined if they have the booster (reminder) dose or have had the disease in the last 3 months. They continue using masks and following the symptoms.
• Contacts who are unvaccinated or have passed 3 months after the booster dose are quarantined for 7 days. Their symptoms are followed. People whose test results are negative on the 5th day can end their quarantine.

Also,

• Medically disadvantaged groups (who have documented chronic diseases, heart diseases, COPD, or various disabilities) can continue their education online as long as the pandemic conditions last.

Psychological Counseling Center

Individual talks with the personnel and students at the Psychological Counseling Center of our University are held on digital environment. Besides, in-house training seminars are held at regular periods considering the requirements of the students and personnel, and the respective efforts are made for the new seminars accordingly. Catering Services

The measures that are required to be taken by all the business enterprises on the campus under the scope of the respective legal requirements are cautiously checked on a regular basis. The catering enterprises operating on the campus will serve considering the pandemic conditions during the Spring Semester of 2021-2022 Academic Year.

Sports Hall

Our Sports Hall will continue operating on a booking system during the Spring Semester of 2021-2022 Academic Year by taking all COVID-19 related measures as recommended by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Sports Teams

The exercises of the sports teams operating at our university will be organized by the sports teachers in line with the respective decisions made by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Students, who wish to participate in the sports teams’ organizations of the sports teams or student clubs, are required to have got two dose vaccines or take a rapid PCR test at the entrance of the campus (if they are not vaccinated).

Student Clubs

During the Spring Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022, the student clubs will continue to operate in two forms: online and face-to-face. The students, who wish to participate in the student clubs’ organizations at the university, are required to have got two dose vaccines or take a rapid PCR test at the entrance of the campus (if they are not vaccinated).

Dance and Music Rooms

The Dance and Music Rooms on the campus will continue to operate on a booking system during the Spring Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022 by means of taking all the COVID-19 related measures. Dormitories

The student dormitories with which we act in cooperation serve considering the pandemic conditions. In order to make use of the facilities of the dormitories, the students are required to provide their HES codes, vaccine cards or the negative results of a PCR or antigen test conducted in the past 72 hours with the direction of the dormitory management. A student is required to provide the dormitory management the test results on a regular basis until they get their vaccine card. While staying in a dormitory, the students are required to comply with the respective measures such as face mask, hygiene and social distance and, wear a face mask in the common life and study areas under the scope of the COVID-19 related measures. Academic and Educational Activities

All the academic and educational activities on the campus will continue considering the following principles for the Spring Period of 2021-2022 Academic Year:

• Those, who have got two dose vaccines out of the COVID-19 vaccines in the emergency use listing of the World Health Organization, are allowed to enter the campus after at least 14 days have been elapsed from the second dose.

• Those, who are not vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine or fail to report their status through MyKHAS, are required to present their HES Code and test a rapid PCR test at the entrance of the campus once every two days.

• Theoretical courses and practical training in Associate, Undergraduate, and Graduate programs will be held online until Monday, February 28, and will continue face-to-face dating from Monday, February 28.

• Courses to be held online during the academic semester will be announced as a list at the beginning of the semester.

• The School of Foreign Languages (SoFL) English Preparatory Program classes will be held online between January 31 - February 28, 2022. In the rest of the semester, hybrid education (on campus or online on certain days ) will be given, and the education plan will be announced by SoFL.

• All mid-term or final exams will be held face-to-face.

• Graduate Programs' Thesis Defenses, PhD Qualifying Exams, Thesis Proposals, Thesis Monitoring Committees and all kinds of applications and projects related to the theses will be done online or face-to-face with the decision of the relevant advisor or the program.

 

Information Center (Library)

The Information Center will continue to offer its services and facilities in the Spring Semester in line with the regulations below:

Working Hours: The working hours of the Information Center for on-site services continue from 08.30 to 23:30 on weekdays, and 10:00-22:00 on weekends when the spring classes start. These hours will be updated considering the changing conditions and requirements, and announced accordingly. Please click to see the working hours.

Courier Services – Lending & Returning the Books: The resources available at the library collections such as books, DVDs and magazines etc. are still sent to the members of Kadir Has University through courier upon the request once a week. Consultancy, Information Support: The team at the Information Center will continue working online from 08:30 to 23:30 everyday in order to meet the requirements of KHAS members for information and knowledge. The services for information, sources of information, education, academic support and research support between these hours will be rendered in the form of a video conference using the applications Zoom and Teams. Publication – Purchasing: We continue to meet the resource needs of KHAS members to support their academic studies and research. Please fill in the Publication Request Form in your Information Center account to send your requests for your academic studies and research studies. Orientation – Education: In addition to such services and facilities for KHAS members, there will be webinars intended to improve their knowledge and experience about the resources. Besides, a series of training is planned to ensure that the databases and e-resources are efficiently used in cooperation with the respective publishers. KHAS members will be informed when these trainings and webinars scheduled.

Erasmus+ and Exchange Programs

The students who came and will come to our university at the scope of the Erasmus+ and exchange program have been informed about the measures and restrictions applicable in Turkey and, all the partner institutions have been notified of the practices applicable at our university and in the Republic of Turkey.

• Those, who have got two dose vaccines out of the COVID-19 vaccines in the emergency use listing of the World Health Organization, are allowed to enter the campus after at least 14 days have been elapsed from the second dose.

The KHAS personnel elected for the academic year of 2019-2020 will be able to make use of the mobility until May 31, 2022.

• The personnel from the partner institutions will come to Kadir Has University under the scope of Erasmus+ Personnel Mobility considering the pandemic-related rules and regulations applicable at our university and in Turkey.

Events

It is recommended that all events be held online in the Spring Semester of the 2021-2022 Academic Year. Events that have to be held face-to-face can be planned on weekends or in the evening according to the availability of graduate programs, with the restriction of the number of participants due to pandemic conditions. Travels

All the university-supported or personal foreign appointments and travels will continue considering the course of the pandemic during the Spring Semester of 2021-2022 Academic Year.
 

Precautions Taken on the Campus

Following the emergence of coronavirus in the world, an Emergency Action Team consisting of the authorized persons from the respective departments at our university has been formed and, the respective measures have been taken accordingly. We at Kadir Has University are closely monitoring all the respective national and international developments concerning COVID-19 virus. It is our priority to protect the health and safety of our students, academic and administrative personnel and, inform our students and employees in line with the information from the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of Health, the Council of Higher Education and other competent public institutions.

Precautions You Can Take at Home

• Ventilate your room on a frequent basis.

• Pay attention to your hand hygiene. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and use alcohol based hand sanitizers where there is no soap and water. Do not touch your mouth, nose and eyes with dirty hands. 

• Eat properly and healthily to strengthen your immune system. Wash thoroughly the food before consuming them.

• Keep away from the crowded areas. Avoid hand-shaking and hugging.

• Cover your mouth and nose with a single-use tissue when coughing or sneezing, and if you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow.
