Dear Members of the Kadir Has University Family,

It is our priority at Kadir Has University to protect the health of all the students and employees during this ongoing pandemic period. We would like to remind you of the measures we have taken, and the rules and practices you need to comply with when returning to the campus for the Fall Period, Academic Year 2021-2022.

  • During this new period when we will continue to be careful about hygiene, face mask and social distance, it is mandatory to wear a face mask in all the indoor locations of the campus

  • During the Fall Semester, our campus will be open only to the university members (students, academic and administrative staff and graduates). All the members of KHAS are required to have their HES Codes verified through MyKHAS to avoid any problem when entering the campus.

  • We recommend all the students and employees get their second dose vaccines in order to protect all the members of the KHAS Family. Those, who have got two dose vaccines out of the COVID-19 vaccines in the emergency use listing of the World Health Organization, are allowed to enter the campus after at least 14 days have been elapsed from the second dose. Any unvaccinated member of KHAS is required to submit their PCR test results taken in the last 48 hours.

  • You are required to notify about and get an approval for your visitors, who will enter the campus, one day beforehand through corona@khas.edu.tr.   

  • There are hand sanitizers available at various points of the campus and, there are door mats with special disinfectants for shoes hygiene at the entrance gates. You can get your spare face masks from the automatic vending machines available at certain points of the campus by means of having your university cards read. 

  • Our physician and occupational physician will continue supporting our students and employees on the campus every weekdays during the Fall Semester.

  • All the business enterprises operating on the campus serve under the pandemic conditions and, the measures taken by these business enterprises are cautiously checked.

  • You will make use of the facilities at the Gym, Dance Room and Music Room on a booking system during the Fall Semester. A student, who wishes to participate in face-to-face organizations of the sports teams or student clubs, is required to have got two dose vaccines or submit their PCR test results taken in the last 48 hours.

  • The shuttle buses will continue to serve our administrative personnel observing the pandemic conditions in the new semester. Please visit MyKHAS to get current information about the shuttle busses.

Güvenli Kampüs

Kadir Has University is awarded a “Certificate of Healthy and Safe Campus under Global Pandemic Conditions” as a result of the efforts by our university and of the audits by the Turkish Standards Institute under the scope of the “Guidance on Development of Healthy and Clean Environments at Higher Education Institutions under Global Pandemic Conditions” prepared with a cooperation protocol entered into between the Turkish Standards Institute and the Council of Higher Education.

 

Here are all the details about the rules to be complied with and, the practices to be maintained during the Fall Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022 in the fields of Life at the Campus, Academic and Educational Activities, Information Center (Library), Erasmus+ and Exchange Programs, Psychological Counseling Center, Dormitories and Travels.  

 

Life at Campus

Healthcare

Our physician and occupational physician will continue supporting our students and employees on the campus every weekdays during the Fall Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022. It is planned that those suspected of COVID-19 are taken to the emergency room and, guided to the nearest healthcare institution.

Psychological Counseling Center

Individual talks with the personnel and students at the Psychological Counseling Center of our University are held on digital environment. Besides, in-house training seminars are held at regular periods considering the requirements of the students and personnel, and the respective efforts are made for the new seminars accordingly. Catering Services

The measures that are required to be taken by all the business enterprises on the campus under the scope of the respective legal requirements are cautiously checked on a regular basis. The food business enterprises operating on the campus will start to operate as of the Fall Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022. These business enterprises will serve considering the pandemic conditions.

Sports Hall

Our Sports Hall will continue operating on a booking system during the Fall Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022 taking all COVID-19 related measures as recommended by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Sports Teams

The exercises of the sports teams operating at our university will be organized by the sports teachers in line with the respective decisions made by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. A student, who wishes to participate in the sports teams’ organizations of the sports teams or student clubs, is required to have got two dose vaccines or submit their PCR test results taken in the last 48 hours.  

Student Clubs

During the Fall Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022, the student clubs will continue to operate in two forms: online and face-to-face. A student, who wishes to participate in the student clubs’ organizations at the university, is required to have got two dose vaccines or submit their PCR test results taken in the last 48 hours.

Dance and Music Rooms

The Dance and Music Rooms on the campus will continue to operate on a booking system during the Fall Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022 by means of taking all the COVID-19 related measures. Dormitories

The student dormitories with which we act in cooperation serve considering the pandemic conditions. In order to make use of the facilities of the dormitories, the students are required to provide the dormitory management with their HES codes, vaccine cards or the negative results of a PCR test conducted in the past 72 hours. A student is required to provide the dormitory management with the PCR test results (two times a week) on a regular basis until they get their vaccine card. While staying in a dormitory, the students are required to comply with the respective measures such as face mask, hygiene and social distance and, wear a face mask in the common life and study areas under the scope of the COVID-19 related measures. Academic and Educational Activities

All the academic and educational activities on the campus will continue considering the following principles for the Fall Period of 2021-2022 Academic Year:

• Those, who have got two dose vaccines out of the COVID-19 vaccines in the emergency use listing of the World Health Organization, are allowed to enter the campus after at least 14 days have been elapsed from the second dose.

• Those, who are not vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine or fail to report their status through MyKHAS, are required to present their PCR test results taken in the last 48 hours in order to enter the campus.

• Out of the students with 2-dose COVID-19 prefer online education vaccine, those who prefer online education should submit this request to the university through MyKHAS by September 10, 2021 so that they could be entitled to online education.

• Those who pulled through COVID-19 may enter the campus on the condition that they are vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine as defined at the system, and at least 14 days have been elapsed from the last dose, or they submit their PCR test results taken in the last 48 hours.

• There will be Mixed (Hybrid) Education (i.e. some courses will be taught face-to-face, and some courses will be taught in a live broadcast in the classroom) during the Fall Period, Academic Year of 2021-2022 and, all the examinations for both the vaccinated and unvaccinated students will be held face-to-face. • All the courses to be opened under the scope of the Academic English and Modern Languages at the School of Foreign Languages (SoFL) will be taught online.

• Considering the requirements of the students at the different Tracks on the SoFL Preparatory Program, there will be Mixed (Hybrid) Education for which the ratio of face-to-face to online will be determined by the SoFL Board.

• In line with the processes as determined by the SoFL, the students will be given an opportunity to receive education face-to-face or online and, they will be able to continue receiving their education in the format of their choice until the end of the semester.

• The midterm exams and final exams will be held face-to-face irrespective of the choice of the students to receive education.

 

Information Center (Library)

The Information Center will continue to offer its services and facilities during the Fall Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022 in line with the new regulations. It is planned that the operating hours of the Information Center for on-site services will be from 09.00 to 18.00 on weekdays considering the pandemic-related measures. These hours will be updated considering the changing conditions and requirements, and announced accordingly.

Physical and social measures have been taken depending on the number of persons who may be present in the Information Center at the same time and who may make use of the facilities thereof on-site. There are markings, announcements and guidance intended to remind of these rules and practices.

Here are the practices intended to ensure that the members could make use of all the facilities and services:

Courier Services – Lending & Returning the Books: The practice will continue, through which the printed resources available at the library collection such as books, DVDs and magazines etc. are sent to the members of Kadir Has University through courier upon the request. Likewise, the resources lent in this manner may also be returned through courier. Please use your account with the Information Center to view the resources lent and, for time extension procedures. Consultancy, Information Support: The team at the Information Center will continue working online from 08:30 to 24:00 at 24/7 in order to meet the requirements of the members for information and knowledge. The services for information, sources of information, education, academic support and research support between these hours will be rendered in the form of a video conference using the applications Zoom and Teams. Publication – Purchasing: The purchase requests from the members will be met without any interruption, and the practice will continue, through which the electronic versions, if any, are made available for the book requests. Interlibrary Borrowing and Document Provision Service will be rendered with the participation and support of local and international libraries accordingly.

Orientation – Education: In addition to such services and facilities for the members, there will be webinars intended to improve their knowledge and experience about the resources. Besides, a series of training is planned to ensure that the databases and e-resources are efficiently used in cooperation with the respective publishers. The members will be informed as the schedule for these training and webinar programs becomes definite.

Erasmus+ and Exchange Programs

The students who came and will come to our university at the scope of the Erasmus+ and exchange program have been informed about the measures and restrictions applicable in Turkey and, all the partner institutions have been notified of the practices applicable at our university and in the Republic of Turkey.

• There will be Hybrid Education (i.e. some courses will be taught face-to-face, and some courses will be taught in a live broadcast in the classroom) during the Fall Period, Academic Year of 2021-2022 and, all the examinations for both the vaccinated and unvaccinated students will be held face-to-face. We will inform you about the online courses in the forthcoming days.

• Those, who have got two dose vaccines out of the COVID-19 vaccines in the emergency use listing of the World Health Organization, are allowed to enter the campus after at least 14 days have been elapsed from the second dose.

• Those, who are not vaccinated with a COVID-19 vaccine or fail to report their status through MyKHAS/Forms, are required to present their PCR test results taken in the last 48 hours in order to enter the campus. (The application to load the vaccine card will become active by September 10, 2021, and additional information will be provided in this respect).

• Out of the students with 2-dose COVID-19 vaccine, those who prefer online education should submit this request to the university through MyKHAS by September 10, 2021 so that they could be entitled to online education.

• Those who pulled through COVID-19 may enter the campus on the condition that they are vaccinated with COVID-19 vaccine as defined at the system, and at least 14 days have been elapsed from the last dose, or they submit their PCR test results taken in the last 48 hours.

• The academic and administrative personnel of our university will be able to visit the partner institutions in Europe under the scope of Erasmus+ Personnel Mobility starting from the academic year of 2021-2022 depending on the decision of the partner institutions. The KHAS personnel elected for the academic year of 2019-2020 will be able to make use of the mobility until May 31, 2022.

• The personnel from the partner institutions will come to Kadir Has University under the scope of Erasmus+ Personnel Mobility considering the pandemic-related rules and regulations applicable at our university and in Turkey.

Events

It is recommended that all events be held online in the Fall Semester of the 2021-2022 Academic Year. Events that have to be held face-to-face can be planned on weekends or in the evening according to the availability of graduate programs, with the restriction of the number of participants due to pandemic conditions. Travels

All the university-supported or personal foreign appointments and travels will continue during the Fall Semester, Academic Year of 2021-2022 considering the course of the pandemic.

Following the emergence of coronavirus in the world, an Emergency Action Team consisting of the authorized persons from the respective departments at our university has been formed and, the respective measures have been taken accordingly. We at Kadir Has University are closely monitoring all the respective national and international developments concerning COVID-19 virus. It is our priority to protect the health and safety of our students, academic and administrative personnel and, inform our students and employees in line with the information from the Presidency of the Republic, the Ministry of Health, the Council of Higher Education and other competent public institutions.

Precautions You Can Take at Home

• Ventilate your room on a frequent basis.

• Pay attention to your hand hygiene. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, and use alcohol based hand sanitizers where there is no soap and water. Do not touch your mouth, nose and eyes with dirty hands. 

• Eat properly and healthily to strengthen your immune system. Wash thoroughly the food before consuming them.

• Keep away from the crowded areas. Avoid hand-shaking and hugging.

• Cover your mouth and nose with a single-use tissue when coughing or sneezing, and if you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow.
