New Book by Prof. Dr. Sezin Öner: “Post Traumatic Stress Disorder”

Dr. Sezin Öner, a faculty member at the Department of Psychology, has published a book titled “Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: Theoretical and Practical Approaches” was published by Nobel Publishing. Trauma, which is defined as a set of effects caused by unusual and unexpected events that arouse feelings of extreme fear, terror and helplessness, has a significant impact on human life. Overcoming it is of healing importance. In the book on trauma and its aftermath, how trauma is defined in different periods, explanatory models, risk and protective factors are compiled and shared with the readers. It also introduces Cognitive Processing Therapy, which has been shown to be the most effective treatment plan in the light of effectiveness studies of psychological interventions, and explains the different working modules of this approach. However, this intervention plan, which is a branch of Cognitive-Behavioral therapies, focuses on differentiating trauma memory and post-traumatic growth processes rather than coping with trauma. At the end of the book, the focal points of the intervention plan in the case study presented and the treatment plan sample are included.
