2. Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions (MSCA)
Marie Skłodowska Curie Actions is a funding instrument within the EU framework programme dedicated to supporting mobility, training, career development and knowledge exchange for researchers and research staff. Within the MSCA programme, there are Doctoral Networks for PhD students, postdoctoral fellowships for PhD researchers (MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships), co-funding of new or existing PhD/postdoctoral programmes (Co-funding of Regional, National and International programmes), funding opportunities for short-term exchange programmes for research and innovation staff (Staff Exchange), as well as funds to disseminate knowledge and engage the public in the European Researcher’s Night (European Researcher’s Night) open to the public across Europe (MSCA and CITIZENS). MSCA is open to all research fields and invites applicants to propose actions freely in a bottom-up manner. A common theme, however, is that MSCA Actions are based on the principle of mobility and provide funding on the condition that researchers move from one country to another to acquire new knowledge and develop their research careers. Most MSCA calls are highly competitive and demand high standards regarding both the excellence of the research and the quality and impact of the proposed training or knowledge sharing activities. The European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers are the cornerstone of all MSCA actions, promoting open recruitment and attractive working and employment conditions. In addition, the MSCA places special emphasis on equal opportunities, including gender balance and the inclusion of researchers with disabilities. MSCA funding is open to researchers and research staff, with priority given to young researchers, and welcomes applications from all countries, including universities, research institutions, research infrastructures, businesses, civil society organisations and other socio-economic actors, both in the academic and non-academic sectors.

7. Joint Research Centre (JRC):
The Joint Research Centre (JRC) is a research-based policy support organisation and an integral part of the European Commission. The JRC provides scientific advice and technical knowledge to support a wide range of EU policies. The JRC’s mission is to provide customer-focused scientific and technical support for the conception, development, implementation and monitoring of EU policies. The JRC’s work ranges from detecting and measuring genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food and feed to developing nuclear forensics technology to combat illicit nuclear material smuggling and using satellite technologies to monitor land use and emergencies such as forest fires and floods. Its activities also include defining food safety standards, researching new energy technologies and assessing policy options, for example, related to climate change.

1. European Innovation Council (EIC)
The EIC aims to identify and support cutting-edge technologies and innovations that have the potential to create international impact and become market leaders. As such, funding can be applied for within the EIC for everything from fundamental research related to new technology to the validation and demonstration of new innovations. There is a strong focus on support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The EIC offers support through three funding instruments:
(i) Pathfinder for advanced research on new technologies,
(ii) Accelerator for individual companies looking to develop and scale groundbreakinginnovations,
(iii) Transition, which specifically offers researchers and innovators the tools totransform their results into applications tailored to the needs of users.

1. Widening Participation and Spreading Excellence
The main objective of the program is to accelerate the economic growth and competitiveness of countries with low participation in the Framework Programs and low research and innovation performance compared to other countries (widening countries). Increasing the performance of countries with lower performance, developing R&D and innovation systems, activating national funds/other EU funds in this direction and using them in harmony can be shown as the main objectives of the area. In this context, it is desired to establish active cooperation networks to reduce the differences in R&D capacity and project development capabilities between stakeholders with stronger and higher research and innovation performance and stakeholders in widening countries. Direct R&D and innovation activities are not supported within the scope of area calls. There are no field restrictions for the calls, but projects submitted are encouraged to strongly reflect “excellence” in a scientific or technological field.
