New Faces in the Academic Staff of KHAS Political Science and Public Administration Department

New names are joining to KHAS KHAS Department of Political Science and Public Administration in the new academic year. 


Asst. Prof. M. Kerem Çoban

M. Kerem Çoban completed a PhD in Public Policy at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, in end-2017. Before his doctoral studies, he completed MA in Development Studies at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID), Geneva in 2013, and BA in International Relations at Kadir Has University, Istanbul in 2011.

Following his doctoral studies, he was a Research Associate (Non-Resident Visiting Fellow) at GLODEM Research Centre, Koc University (Feb 2018 – April 2021). He is currently a collaborator at FLAS project of Dr. Fulya Apaydin of IBEI, Barcelona, and is an Associate Member at LAGAPE Research Center, University of Lausanne. His current research and teaching interests lie at the intersection of comparative public policy, regulatory governance, and international political economy. 


Dr. Sibel Karadağ

Sibel Karadağ received her BA in Social and Political Science from Sabancı University (2010), MA in European Studies from Sabancı University (2012), and her MSc in Social Policy from London School of Economics and Political Science (2012). She obtained her PhD from Koç University.

Karadağ furthered her studies as a postdoctoral researcher at MiReKoc in Horizon 2020 ADMIGOV Project (2020-2021). During the 2018/2019 academic year, she was a Fulbright Fellow at Yale University. In 2020, she also worked as a researcher and academic coordinator at the Association for Migration Research (GAR). For the 2021/2022 academic year, she received Mercator-IPC Fellowship with the project titled “On the Eve of a New 'Deal': Scope, Actors, and Methods”.

Her research interests lie in critical security and border studies, migration and mobility, political geography, political sociology, sovereignty and citizenship, and social/political theory. She presented her research at universities in the USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Greece, Austria, and Spain and international conferences such as International Studies Association (ISA) and European International Studies Association (EISA). In addition to her numerous international project reports, her articles have been published in journals, including Geopolitics, Turkish Studies, Comparative Migration Studies, and Toplum ve Bilim
