Area of Research

This study aims to reveal the range of women’s representations on contemporary screens in Turkey and their workforce behind the camera. Using quantitative and qualitative research methods in our analyses of TV series and films produced between 2017-2021, we examine the relationship between women’s representation and production networks and look for possible connections, imbalances, and discontinuities that these networks may bear between the screens and sets. We question how screen production is informed by gender and how female agency can be defined in these networks.
