In collaboration with the Turkish Philosophical Society and Kadir Has University, the 32nd World Congress of the International Association for the Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy (IVR) was successfully held at Kadir Has University’s Cibali Campus in Istanbul from 28 June to 3 July 2026.
Organised under the theme Law Facing the Changing Problems of the World, the Congress brought together academics, researchers, and students from a wide range of disciplines working in the fields of legal philosophy and social philosophy. Welcoming more than 900 participants from 43 countries, the Congress featured Plenary Sessions delivered by internationally renowned invited speakers, alongside 97 Special Workshops and 56 Working Group sessions.
Throughout the Congress, participants from diverse disciplinary backgrounds engaged in fruitful discussions on rethinking the role of law in the face of the world’s changing challenges, developing new conceptual frameworks, and strengthening international academic collaboration. In her opening address, Prof. Dr. Ioanna Kuçuradi emphasised that every inquiry into law concerning normative or conceptual questions is, ultimately, a philosophical inquiry into law, reminding us of the importance of critical and conceptual thinking in addressing the pressing challenges of our time.
We sincerely thank all our speakers, participants, and everyone whose dedication and contributions made this Congress possible.
