Agriculture 5.0: Smart Farming Technologies for Sustainable Agricultural Development
Abstract: Smart agriculture systems are a combination of precise agricultural practices and calculation methods used for the sustainability of agriculture in modern times. The integration of evolving and rapidly changing technologies in agriculture creates a promising synergy between agriculture and information and communication technologies. Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), and Machine Learning (ML) are some of the promising technologies that, when combined with agriculture, can be made smart enough to support and monitor various decisions. This seminar will focus on precision agriculture, smart agriculture, wireless sensor networks, internet of things, artificial intelligence, and agriculture 5.0 topics, and finally, information about the projects carried out within the scope of the Işık University INTALA LAB will be provided.

Currently, Dr. Aydın serves as the project coordinator in three different projects in the field of beekeeping, two of which are international and one is national. The first international project was submitted as part of the ERA-NET Cofund ICT-AGRI-FOOD 2022 Joint Call and is funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Program. The project is conducted by a consortium consisting of Turkey, Argentina, Poland, and Latvia. The second project is conducted jointly with the University of Malta under the TÜBİTAK-Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) Bilateral Cooperation Program. Finally, in the national project, an integrated information system will be developed taking into account the requirements determined by the researchers from within the Beekeeping Research Institute, to carry out beekeeping activities in our country more effectively, efficiently, accurately, and sustainably. Through effective research initiatives with prominent research institutes in Turkey such as the Beekeeping Research Institute, Hazelnut Research Institute, and Aegean Agricultural Research Institute, Dr. Aydın has established long-term project partnerships and scientific collaborations to improve our country’s agriculture
