Re-forming Concrete

Kadir Has University, Faculty of Art and Design, Department of Architecture’s 2024 summer workshop titled “Re-forming Concrete”, in cooperation with Akçansa company, was held between 22 July – 2 August, lead by Asst. Prof. Mine Koyaz and Instr. Tahsin Demir, with the participation of 17 students.

The workshop, offered as a part of the construction site internship, examines the process of creating a whole from modular units with an experimental approach to concrete formwork techniques. In the first part of the workshop, participants were tasked with designing modular units, taking into account size and weight limitations, concrete material composition and construction methods. In the second part of the workshop, the participants produced their molds, applied the concrete inside and constructed the combination of the units in accordance with their designs. The process includes seminars, cement factory visits, use of digital production tools and hands-on experiences with the concrete material.

The products created by our students are exhibited at Cibali Campus and are also published digitally on our FADPORT (https://fadport.khas.edu.tr/) page.
