Greta Popovici, Erasmus student at Kadir Has University during the 2011-2012 academic year, has become one of the first among a nominated ten finalists in a contest by the Gala LSRS (Ligue of Romanian Students from Abroad), which awards academic excellence among Romanian students studying abroad.
Ms. Popovici has followed a semester of master studies in Kadir Has University’s Economics Department and had an internship at the university’s Research Center for Middle East and Africa Studies, where she has been involved in a research project on “African migrants living in Istanbul.” She worked as an assistant to the Assoc. Prof. Sedat Aybar, director of the center and head of the economics department.
On January 8th 2013, The Romanian Parliament hosted the 4th edition of the Gala LSRS and students were rewarded in 8 distinct categories. About 4000 Romanian students benefitted an Erasmus mobility in the 2011-2012 academic year, and those with best experiences were selected as finalists for the contest’s Erasmus category, among whom Greta Popovici as well.
The jury was most impressed by Ms. Popovici’s paper called “Dare to be the first,” where she explains the academic and extracurricular activities she has been involved during her stay in Istanbul.
