The German Marshall Fund of the United States and the Center for International and European Studies (CIES) at Kadir Has University held a public debate on “Transatlantic Trends and the Role of Turkey” at Kadir Has University(Cibali, Istanbul), on Wednesday, 12 September 2012.
During this event there was a public launch and presentation of the Transatlantic Trends 2012 simultaneously in Istanbul; Washington, DC; Brussels; Berlin; and elsewhere in Europe. The Transatlantic Trends is a public opinion survey in its eleventh consecutive year that measures broad public opinion in the United States, Turkey, and eleven European Union countries and gauges transatlantic relations through interviews with more than 13,000 people.
Two expert discussion panels on “Turkey and the West: The Role of Public Opinion” and “Transatlantic Perspectives on the Arab Awakenings” were also held to assess the state of the Transatlantic relationship and Turkey’s role.
