Kadir Has University as the New Partner of “Black Sea Young Reformers Fellowship”

28 May 2012 - Monday

Kadir Has University will host the the first meeting of the third generation of Black Sea Young Reformers (BSYR) Fellowship between 28-31 May 2012, as one its new project partners.

In 2010, BSYR Fellowship was launched in partnership with the Center for Applied Policy Research (C.A.P) at the University of Munich (Germany), Robert Bosch Stiftung and the Black Sea Trust of the German Marshall Fund of the United States, which gathered promising decision-makers from all over the Black Sea region for a series of two conferences and created a unique forum of interaction and discussion of various problems. Kadir Has University and the International Relations Council of Turkey have been invited as the new consortium partners, representing Turkey as one the key countries of the region.

The BSYR project aims at integrating promising aspiring politicians (political party activists), civil servants, public administrators, and civil society activists (including policy analysts working with various think tanks) into an informal body representing the Black Sea’s political and public elites. The community of Black Sea Fellows will have the opportunity to directly contact, cooperate, and debate with their colleagues from the European Union member states and with high-ranking representatives of the EU institutions. The Young Reformers of the Fellowship will constitute a valuable community advocating Black Sea region policy agendas before the EU, and will serve as regional counterparts of the EU institutional representatives in the debate and development of the EU’s Eastern Neighbourhood Policy.

BSYR project-2012 will host 21 young reformers from 9 different countries of the region. 2012 fellows will meet Black Sea experts at the seminars and workshops that will be conducted under the title of “Security in the Black Sea: New Challenges; Innovative Solutions”. The fellows will then have the opportunity to work together in joint projects in order to contribute to the security, stability and prosperity of the region.
