05 May 2012 - Saturday

Ozgur Orhangazi, Assistant Professor at our university’s department of Economics in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, received research funding from the International Reintegration Grants program of the European Union’s 7th Framework Program and the Marie Curie Fellowship and Funding Program. His research project, entitled “Financialization, Economic Development and Crisis,” will examine the impacts of financialization on economic development and distribution while also encouraging discussions of egalitarian economic politics. It will be carried out from 2012 to 2015 at Kadir Has University, and will be a means of funding research assistantships for graduate and PhD students.

Last year, three research projects at our university received funding from a European Union 7th Framework Program which aimed to counter brain drain from European countries to other areas. Asst. Prof. Orçun Kepez from our Fine Arts Faculty launched a three-year project in 2010 to increase the life standards of elderly people residing in retirement houses. Asst. Prof. Dr. Serhat Erküçük from the Faculty of Engineering also began a three-year project in 2010 to come up with solutions to the problem of the license distribution of frequency bands. Asst. Prof. Dr. Öznur Yaşar Diner from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences also received the same funding for her project entitled “Forbidden Minor Characterizations for 4-Searchable Graphs.”
