As recepients of Korean Government Grant to support international cultural exchange of undergraduates, four Interior Design Students from Yonsei University, has participated to DesignHEALS Summer School and International Internship Program that was offered by Interior and Environmental Design Department. Scheduled around the principe of “Work hard, play hard!”; 6 week program also enabled students to make cultural trips in Turkey.
In their week of arrival, Korean students volunteered in Design Camp of Faculty of Fine Arts and worked with high school students. Interior and Environmental Design Department and AcikOfis Architecture partnered to establish a week long internship program where Korean students found opportunity to participate. Last two weeks of the program was dedicated for design studio with scope of exploring design of shades in public spaces and their preventive power for skin cancer. Design studio was organized by DesignHEALS Research Group, that was established to conduct research on health and design. DesignHEALS Summer School was based first conducting field observations at Ortaköy and then designing shade structures based on findings from field study.
Upon successful completion of this program, Korean students received their certificates on 18th of August. The design works that was produced in this summer program is exhibited at the Dean’s Hall that is located at the first floor of Faculty of Fine Arts.
