New Faces at KHAS School of Foreign Languages
7 September 2023The staff of our School of Foreign Languages is expanding with new names. Here are our new academicians:
Esra Özilhan Çiftci
Esra Özilhan Çiftci received her BA degree in English Language and Literature from Istanbul Kültür University in 2009 and her MA in Comparative Literature degree from Istanbul Bilgi University in 2013. She received her pedagogical formation in English Language Teaching from Yıldız Technical University in 2010. Esra completed the Preparatory Program of MSc Educational Studies at KU Leuven in July 2022. She also holds a CELTA certificate from Cambridge University. Other than Kadir Has University, she worked at Beykent University, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University, Özyeğin University and Yeditepe University as an English Language instructor.
Ömer Çiftci
Ömer Çiftci received his BA degree in English Language and Literature from Istanbul University in 2010 and his MA in Comparative Literature from Istanbul Bilgi University in 2012. Prior to Kadir Has University, he worked at Altınbaş University and at Özyeğin University as an English language instructor.
Serra İlgi Karakaş
Serra İlgi Karakaş completed her undergraduate education at Marmara University, the Department of Translation and Interpreting (English) in 2018. In 2019, she started her Master’s Degree at Marmara University, the Institute of European Studies, at the Department of European Politics and International Relations (English) and graduated from the master’s program in 2023 by defending the thesis titled “The Role of The High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of The European Union: A Critical Discourse Analysis on The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict”. Since 2018, she has taught various courses within the English Preparatory Unit and at the Departments of English Translation and Interpreting, French Translation and Interpreting and German Translation and Interpreting. In July 2023, she was accepted to the PhD Program in Interlingual and Intercultural Translation Studies. She plans to conduct research on topics such as English Language Teaching, Critical / Discourse Analysis and Terminology.
