Kadir Has University 2022-23 Graduation Ceremony

Kadir Has University organized a graduation ceremony for the Graduates of 2023 on Sunday, July 16 in Volkswagen Arena. Scholars and families on the tribunes accompany the enthusiasm of the graduates throwing their caps.

The graduates for 2023 gathered together with their friends, families, and scholars for a spectacular ceremony in Volkswagen Arena. During the ceremony, the opening speeches were made by Nuri Has (Chairman of the Board of Trustees), Can Has (Chairman of the Kadir Has Foundation), and Prof. Dr. Sondan Durukanoğlu Feyiz (President). Those, who could not attend the ceremony, also shared the excitement of the students for graduation thanks to a live broadcast on the YouTube channel of Kadir Has University. Giving a mini-concert during the ceremony, Manuş-u Âlâ amused the graduates and guests with their songs.

“AN ENTREPRENEURIAL AND FORESIGHTFUL UNIVERSITY”

Starting his words reminding that Kadir Has, the founder of the university, was always as excited as the graduates and their families during any graduation ceremony, telling the graduates that “You are my white doves flying to the future,” Nuri Has said that the number of the white doves that flew from Kadir Has University to the country and the world was now about 18,000.

Stating that as an entrepreneurial and foresightful university, its physical conditions had been renewed to provide the best educational programs and technical infrastructures and, the new buildings added to the existing ones, Nuri Has said that one of the most significant buildings in this respect was Technopark: “After the declaration of Selimpaşa Campus as the Technology Development Zone, we put into operation Technopark we established in cooperation with Silivri Municipality. We will allow our students, academics, and graduates to start up and develop R&D companies.”

Highlighting that the building of Mechatronics Engineering and Civil Engineering started to be constructed in addition to the Molecular Biology and Genetics Research Center recently opened on the campus, Nuri Has promised that this building would be completed soon and put into service as a new item of the perfectionist educational structure.

“TIME TO SHOW YOUR DIFFERENCE”

“Graduation means that you achieved to take up many challenges, improve yourself and take a step toward being ready for life. It also documents your advanced leadership skills, experience, and your personal and social development, in addition to your academic achievement. The knowledge and experience you gained during your university life equipped you well for future achievements. It is now the time to use this equipment and show difference…” said Can Has, encouraging the graduates to trust themselves and their skills.

Underlining that Kadir Has Foundation supports our university in all aspects, Can Has said, “In line with the basic values specified by late Kadir Has, the founder of our Foundation, our university provides all the stakeholders with a free learning environment based on knowledge and research. The vision of both the Foundation and the university for education is based on certain values and objectives such as patriotism, humanitarianism, perfectionism, commitment to the principles and revolutions of Atatürk, and devotion to a well-educated society. This cooperation contributes to the progress through which our students are trained as individuals with an international academic level.”

Stating that they recently started to reap the fruits of the support that the Kadir Has Foundation had provided for more than 25 years, Can Has said that the university has become more substantial, in particular, thanks to the equities of the universities and the national and international funds through the scientific projects carried out by the scholars of the university: “The number of the active research projects carried out by our scholars in 2022 reached 147. The total fund obtained from these projects increased by about 100 percent compared to the previous year. These developments make it possible for us to be confident about the future and increase our investments eagerly. I want to congratulate our president, executives, and professors who have contributed to this achievement.”

“WORK HARD TO MAKE YOUR DREAMS COME TRUE”

Stating that the last five years witnessed incredible transformations for both our country and our world, Prof. Dr. Sondan Durukanoğlu Feyiz said that we passed through a challenging period, and our university was now considered one of the select research universities in our country. Highlighting that a research ecosystem with undergraduate and postgraduate students as a result of unselfish efforts, Prof. Dr. Sondan Durukanoğlu Feyiz drew attention to the process of creation of the Education Model:

“One of our main motivations as scholars was research; the other is that we trained different graduates. We developed a new education model through which we train graduates capable of developing people-oriented alternatives to such economics and political systems that are getting savage, considering our differences as the richness and making use thereof, and paying regard to the needs and competencies of today’s people. The name of this model is the Kadir Has University Education Model. It took work to create this. We left aside what we knew and what they taught us and tried to develop an education model with no exam, based on practice.”

Underlining that the graduates needed to work hard to create such systems, which protect the social benefits and the freedom of individuals, eliminate inequalities, which are sensitive to this earth that offers us life, which safeguards gender equality, and are people-oriented, Prof. Dr. Durukanoğlu Feyiz said that “Walk under the principles of universal humanitarian values and ecological approaches, and the guidance of science while looking for solutions to the problems you encounter. It is in your hands to turn your life into an adventure as long as you live. Do not content yourself with dreams, but work hard to make your dreams come true. Feed these efforts with your hunger for learning. The more you learn, the more you improve yourself, and the earlier you achieve your dreams.”
