Dr. Zeynep Bektaş from İstanbul University-Cerrahpaşa will be the guest of KHAS Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences seminar series with her speech “A Dynamic Energy Management Model for Industrial Microgrids” on Friday, October 7 at 2 pm.
The event will take place in Fener Hall and is open to anyone interested.
Abstract: Energy management, which requires a systematic approach and optimization perspective, stands out for the industrial sector, which has a large share of total electricity consumption around the world. A prominent consumer type among industrial energy consumers is microgrids due to their small-scale and independent structure added to the merit of supporting mitigation of carbon emissions. In this talk, a novel approach to energy management in industrial microgrids will be introduced. The main component of the proposed approach is a novel dynamic mathematical model which aims to minimize the total operation cost of the microgrid considering power-load balance, carbon emission, and consumer comfort. The output of the mathematical model is hourly energy generation and consumption schedules created simultaneously. After the details of the model, case study results under different scenarios will be given.
About the Speaker: Zeynep Bektaş received her B.Sc. degree in Mathematics Engineering, her M.Sc., and Ph.D. degrees in Industrial Engineering from Istanbul Technical University, in 2012, 2015, and 2021, respectively. She has been working as a research assistant in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Istanbul University-Cerrahpasa since 2014. Her research and publications mainly focus on energy modelling and optimization by various conceptual and mathematical approaches.
