S. Özdem Sanberk - Member


 

Özdem Sanberk, a graduate of the Lycée de Galatasaray and Istanbul University’s Faculty of Law, worked in the Madrid, Amman, Bonn and Paris Embassies, as well as the OECD and UNESCO Permanent Representative Offices as an officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs where she held various posts. After that, between 1985–1987 she acted as foreign policy advisor for the Turkish prime minister Turgut Özal.

Between 1987 and 1991 she worked as the Permanent Representative for the European Union and from 1991 to 1995 she served as the Secretary of the Foreign Ministry. In addition, between 1995 and 2000 she served as the ambassador for London.

Sanberk retired in 2000 and until September of 2003 she directed TESEV (The Turkish Economic and Social Studies Foundation). Currently she is a board member of the institutions listed below.

Association with National and International NGOs

Sanberk is a Board Member of the Global Political Trends Center (GPoT), the Wise Men Center for Strategic Studies (BILGESAM) and the Global Relations Forum (GIF).

In addition, she is a board member of the Black Sea Commission, an international NGO comprised of representatives of Black Sea countries. Sanberk is also an active member of both the German Marshall Fund, which works in the area of foreign affairs, and the NGO Salzburg Global Seminar.
