I am observing that the Left is in a dangerous dilemma against the question “What are your alternatives” which is: most of the realistic and concrete suggestions for alternatives under given conditions are criticized that they are “in the system.” And there are specific accusations against these suggestions, claiming that they are not in line to demolish the capitalist system and realize a socialist system. However, many politics inevitably suggested repelling attacks on social gains of the labor with crises used as an excuse, and fighting the attempts to put the harsh consequences of the problem on the shoulders of laborers would include some factors which are “in the system.”
There is the risk that the compass for the class struggle would be lost. One must keep the vision that the final solution is outside the capitalist system and inside socialism. However, the approach that “nothing could be changed in this system, socialism will come, and the problems will be solved” represents an abstract point of view to our problems, and it fails to give any hope to the laborers in this respect. On top of that, it doesn’t seem very easy to convince people and motivate them to abstract ideas through this approach. On the other hand, there are problems for which laborers need urgent solutions; ignoring these problems and claiming that all these problems would be solved in the long term leave the Left alienated and disenfranchised by people.
