URBANIZATION AND SUSTAINABLE CITIES
CSO Clinique, created by the Center for International and European Studies, will organize daily trainings twice a month to support civil society. A support to the adaptation process of civil society organizations to a rapidly developing and changing world is intended to be achieved. Therefore, CSO Clinique aims to provide the young people devoted to the civil society to equip with knowledge, to strengthen their skills and to provide more effective participation of civil society in decision-making process. The subjects of the training will focus on the current issues both in our country and in the world and also the main areas in which CSOs play an active role.
22 June 2018 Urbanization and Sustainable Cities Training
Sustainable Development Goals include sustainable cities and habitats as the 11th target will be the starting lesson of STK Clinique. Today, more than half of the population lives in extreme poverty and this is usually concentrated in urban areas, cities are growing fast and migration from rural to urban is increasing. For this reason, the importance of making cities safe, clean, and participatory for Sustainable Development Goals will be better understood. As UNDP underlines, we can not achieve sustainable development if we do not change our way of building and managing our urban spaces to a significant extent. "
In our training on 22 June 2018, in partnership with WRI Turkey Sustainable Cities, we focused on Urbanization and Sustainable Cities. WRI Turkey Sustainable Cities Urban Development and Accessibility Manager Dr. Çiğdem Çörek Öztaş focused on Livable Cities and Transportation Solutions. In the second part of the training, in leadership of Strategic Communication Coordinator Hande Küçükcoşkun Dönmez and Dr. Çiğdem Çörek Öztaş, we combined the theory and practice in interactive city design.
